Watery experiments

This summer I did a tank cloud experiment which got me super excited. Pure beauty. I made some videos and VJ footage out of it but I plan to do an entire video. Some stills:

Freerotation 2016

So much love, great music, intention to be the best of ourselves, community, creativity, friends and friendly faces, many of whom I I only get to see once a year, and the honour of dancing for our troubled Mother, this suffering planet. Huge thanks to absolutely everyone involved, Suzybee and Steevio and their family -blessings!, and much love. And remembering those who left to dance in the beyond, who were with us also.
It was a fantastic VJ team as always, including the inspiring and totally lovely Limbic Cinema, Kumpa, Arturas Sadiukis (who was such a star with setting up and helping all along), Claire and Vesta Mistake, and the Brown brothers.
Below are some snippets from my VJ performance with Neel on Saturday in Room 1 and J-Lab on Sunday in Room 2.

VJ mix for Cinatrax Vol.1 by Howie B. & DJ Jus-Ed

I've had the pleasure of making this VJ mix to promote the inimitable Howie B. & DJ Jus-Ed's new release Cinatrax Vol.1 now available on

Each track snippet has its own visual concept, as in my previous vid for the UQ label series. All video by me, mixed live.

Little did I know that this Bridgeport USA/ Berlin DE/ UK collaboration will acquire new significance in the wake of the recent Brexit. It's our responsibility as artists to go beyond boundaries and break all walls for a peaceful now and tomorrow on our beautiful, one and only, planet Earth.

With a strong prayer for peace and love, I present to you:

#Trends Exhibition

In October 2015 I was invited to take part in the #Trends Exhibition at the New Wing of The Gogol House, Moscow, Russia, by curators Roman Minaev and Antonina Baever.
The idea was the view of new works by contemporary art "stars" through the lens of lesser well known artists. My task was to photograph work by Christian Jankovski. I created a series of photos, and one documental photo, under the name Yagama Jankowski.

Eat Me! short musical film

My sister Ilina Perianova, with whom I've already collaborated on a number of projects, including food and consumerism related ones, invited me to join her in creating the Eat Me short musical film. So, since June 2015, I've been engaged in making this project happen as a Producer, Lyrics Co-Writer, Production and Costume Designer and director's right hand woman.
It's the first time I've done costumes and it was great fun, I hope you like them too!
Eat me! is a short musical film, about our relationship to food and its waste, and how that reflects in our relationships with each other.
Eat Me! Aims to bring awareness to those problems in a funny and creative way that appeals to a broad audience. We believe we can inspire people to learn more about where their food comes from and the impact it has, and act locally to achieve common global goals.
Music is the universal language and it plays a central part in the story of the film. Musically and visually, we're inspired by classical musicals such as “ Cabaret, “ Hair” and “Chicago.”
The story isn’t set in a particular time and country although it has strong allusions to contemporary society. The approximate length of the film is 20 minutes. It's in English, and we'd like as many people as possible, of all ages and walks of life, to see it. We expect it to be ready by November 2015.
But we still need money to finish the film, specifically the post production part. This is why we've started this cool crowdfunding campaign.

Check it out, share and support. It's all or nothing and it ends on November 1rst. It's a chance for you to be part of the change you want to see in the world!

And here are a couple of photos to make you hungry for more...

Yagama @ Freerotation

I didn't have time to post anything about Freerotation this year yet but here it is now - Freerotation Festival, July 10-13 2015 was IT. I don't know how but it just keeps getting better and better. The people, the music, the place. Simply the best! And I got to play with great musicians, including the amazing Magic Mountain High - the wicked psychedelic Move D+ Juju and Jordash analog goodness combo. Here are some photos by Daddy's Got Sweets from my Saturday set with a DJ aptly called Don't DJ.

Trees of Dreams Installation

During my stay at the Artist Village (Künstlerdorf) in Schöppingen, I was introduced to the lovely people at Chance, an organization based in Gronau, Germany, that helps  jobless people and refugees with bettering their situation. They were looking for a fit way to celebrate their 20th anniversary and invited me to do an installation for the celebration event on May 8th., 2014.
The installation, "Trees of Dreams," was inspired by the universally shared customs of people the world over to hand something on a tree as a sign of hope and prayer for a dream to come true. The colors I used, red, black, blue, white and green-yellow, are similarly important in cultures around the globe. We all share the same hopes and even customs, no matter how different our dreams are! And last but not least, the installation used recycled materials - ribbons for 3 German football teams which may be fight on the field but coexisted peacefully on 13 still leafless platain trees in Chance's garden.
What a great chance to enjoy making an installation outdoors, in communion with nature and for a good cause!

Stiftung Kunstlerdorf Schöppingen fellowship and residency

I had the honor of being awarded a stipend to stay at the Art Village in the  village of Schöppingen near the Dutch border between March and May 2015. Stiftung Kunstlerdorf Schöppingen is run by very open and nice people, presided by Dr. Joseph Spiegel and his partner Dr. Sigrun. I recommend it to any colleague out there not afraid of being left alone to themeslves for prolonged periods. This is the first art residency I ever applied to, and I expected life in a monastery. I sort of got it, as especially in the early days there were few other fellows and the weather was cold and rainy. I locked myself into my huge studio apartment and really enjoyed the amazing space. It was a great chance to develop my new project, a series of tempera on wood and MDF icons of death and sex. I plan to develop the project further elsewhere at a residency, and in Berlin. And now that the time here has come to a close, I'm feeling a bit sad to say goodbye to this place...especially that it's so green and fresh and flowery now that spring is here...

New short film: The First Time

This November, I had the occasion to shoot another short film. It's called "The First Time." It's a film about the first time a young boy experiences deep humiliation and betrayal of trust from another human being. Loosely based on a real life experience, the story traces an event during which the easy vulnerability of a technologically alienated contemporary child is exploited in a way he can't even grasp, for now.
The film was shot on a Black Magic camera 2k, edited in full HD, shot in Berlin in German
Our cast included 2 great kids, Victor Hilligardt and Jaron Schumann, The Man played by the excellent Hendrik Zimmerman Written, directed, produced, edited, post production and game sound design : Yagama (Marianna Perianova), Camera: Peter Bromme, Sound recording: Jon Dickens, Make up: Lilly Albishausen Assistants: Nemanja Andrejic, Helena Rimashevskaya
As things go with films, I can't publish it now, but here are some stills and a making-of shot!

Freerotation 2014

Just when you think it can't get any better, it does. Freerotation 2014 did it again. Big thanks and lots of love to all the family!
I had the pleasure of playing with amazing musicians, including Voices of The Lake. Fantabulously psychedelic experience! Some photos below :)

little APPETITE update

In November 2013 we shot the teaser for my film project APPETITE, which talks about a little Being who gets eaten by a gigantic purple rabbit and travels through its digestive system looking for freedom. It's been my most long term and engaging project so far, and its taken up a lot and at times all of my artistic and orgnisational time, skills and energy. I haven't been updating any of my web presence much, although work has been puffing along in spurts, as it goes with such complicated but exciting and inspiring adventures. We are now in post production and finally starting to animate!
Below is a photo from the set of the teaser by Christian Sonntag for a taste.

And the wheel goes round again...wishing a better new year to the world...

It's been a difficult year for the world and an interesting and busy one for me as an artist. I have mostly been occupied with my work with the ongoing art and film project APPETITE. It has been a source of inspiration, transformation, some necessary grudge, experiences, meetings and learnings - and despite the difficulties, I am really pleased with the ride. In the process, a month long APPETITE art show materialized (pics here and here) in May and June, and the live action part of the teaser was shot in November, and currently the animation and post production are slowly picking up pace. Well, after the holidays they will be ;) Of course, taking part in the wonderful Freerotation Festival was a highlight as always.
With gratitude for everything, wishing everyone in the world to feel more happy in the new year, whatever happiness may mean. And I do hope we awaken en masse to help the healing of our wounded planet.

Freerotation Festival 2013

For the  4th year in a row I have had the pleasure and honor of taking part in what is probably the best - and definitely my favorite - underground electronic music festival around: FREEROTATION! Amazing music, beautiful people, and a lovely vibe. I played live video with a lot of great musicians, including Aybee and Magic Mountain High. Below are some stills from a couple of my sets. Thank you, Freerotation family!!!
